  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 pint blackberries
  • 1½ cup flour
  • tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 peaches, pitted and sliced
  • ¼-3/4 teaspoon salt (I like it on the saltier side)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup boiling water


  1. Grease a 9 inch square pan and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.Beat together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy
  2. Add flour, baking powder, and salt and beat until smooth
  3. Slowly pour in milk and stir until incorporated then beat until batter is smooth.Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan
  4. Cover with peach slices and blackberries
  5. Give the fruit a squeeze of lemon juice then sprinkle the last ¼ cup of sugar over top.Dot the remaining batter on top of the fruit
  6. Pour 1 cup boiling water over all then place in oven and bake for 40-50 minutes or until golden brown.
